Most patient’s ask us, “What is the difference between a regular massage and a medical massage?”
The answer is nothing and everything at the same time! All massages have some medical benefit and can be considered “medically beneficial”. However, we define a medical massage as a treatment given with the intention of treating or alleviating a condition or injury. In school, most massage therapists are trained to massage in a “flow”, following a pattern of touch learned to treat a whole body in 60 minutes. At Dr. Super’s House of Health, we train our massage therapists to abandon the flow and to learn to listen to what the body needs in order to heal. Patients who have had our medical massages are impressed with the amount of pain relief they get compared to massages they may have had in the past!
